2007 St Louis Cardinals Legends Camp Most Successful Ever!

The seventh annual St Louis Cardinals Legends Camp hosted by the Health Careers Foundation was the biggest and best to date. This year’s camp grew to 10 teams with 120 campers and featured 27 Legends including Hall of Fame members Orlando Cepeda and Lou Brock. Newcomers Cal Eldred, Tito Landrum and Joe Magrane joined camp commissioner Al Hrabosky and a group of regulars including Bob Forsch, Danny Cox and Lee Smith.

The 2007 camp celebrated the 40th anniversary of the 1967 World Champion Cardinals, the 25th anniversary of the ’82 championship team and the 20th anniversary of the 1987 National Championship team. The Legends Camp opening night festivities were highlighted by representatives of all three teams including surprise visits from Dal Maxvill and Bob Gibson.

This unique camp experience includes complete Cardinals uniform, 5 games against other campers and four story-filled days with some of the best players to ever wear the ‘birds-on-the-bat’. “The camp experience was awesome, I thought that there would be no way to top my last visit, but I was mistaken. I had an awesome time and just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to enjoy such a great event.” said Michael Tones, District Sales Manager, SYSCO Foods.

The Legends Camp finale is the annual Legends Game where the campers get to challenge the pros. Ten teams faced genuine major league pitching and got a taste of reality on the main field at Roger Dean Stadium. A name in lights on the scoreboard is truly a lifetime memory.

Said first time camper, Ronnie Currie, “Words cannot describe the good time I had (at camp) thanks to you and good folks like Al and all the Legends. The whole camp was just unbelieveable. What you did on that last day by putting me at the plate and announcing my name on the scoreboard and having my picture taken was something you did not have to do but you did it anyways and it is a gesture so nice that it still brings tears to my eyes. I cannot thank you enough for that and it is a memory that will last forever. “
