MEIKE | mother | pharmacist

Going to college directly after high school was always part of my plan. Going to college as a single parent…that was not exactly the way I had envisioned it. But when I was 18, my one-year-old son Preston was the most important thing in my world…and I was determined to succeed for both of us.

That was more than a decade ago. I have since graduated with a degree in pharmacy and easily passed my state licensing board exam. I have filled thousands of prescriptions and have developed meaningful relationships with patients in my care. I’ve administered medications as part of a volunteer team in a small Mexican town. And this spring, I’m going to start my own business as an independent pharmacist contractor. For all of these opportunities, I am thankful for the assistance I received from Health Careers Foundation.

My career has allowed Preston and me to live comfortably. But moreimportantly, I have directly impacted the health of countless individuals, and that is the most rewarding thing of all.
